Your informal guide and driver in Lisbon

It was from the Belém district, located at the mouth of the Tagus, that Portuguese navigators set out to discover the new world.

The reason was simple: on one side, a border with the Spanish (eternal enemies), on the other, the vastness of the ocean. They had to take their chance! The Portuguese didn't hesitate...

This tour in Belém includes a visit to Lx Factory, a former industrial area, abandoned for several years and recently transformed into a district of artists, alternative shops, restaurants and bars.

This is a short walk that's ideal for visiting urban art and some unusual shops.

In Belém, there is a very high concentration of museums, which I will tell you about, but which will not be part of this tour (Carriage Museum, Presidential Palace, Museum of Folk Art, Electricity Museum, Museum of Architecture, Art and Technology, Archaeology Museum, Maritime Museum...). You would easily need 2 days to see everything.

The Belém Tower, the Jerónimos Monastery, and the Monument to the Discoveries are the three most iconic monuments in this area of Lisbon, true ambassadors of Portugal. I will explain the history of each of these buildings, and you will have the opportunity to see them up close (access to the monastery church is free, and there is usually no queue).

Speaking of must-see features of Portugal, we cannot overlook the famous Pastéis de Belém.

We will discover each of these elements on this tour, as well as an unobstructed view of Lisbon, contrasting with the city center and its narrow streets, which we will then explore again along the Tagus River. This excursion is ideal for beautiful sunny days.
