Old Lisbon (with Filipe)
The districts of Alfama, Castelo, Mouraria, Graça and Baixa
Lisbon developed around Castle Hill (S. Jorge). During our tour, we'll visit the narrow streets you're used to seeing on postcards, experience the charm of simplicity, and meet the real Lisbon locals...
We will cross the tram at any time, between visiting the Cathedral (the oldest church in Lisbon), the viewpoints of Santa Luzia, Portas do Sol (Gates of the Sun – I will explain why...) or that of Sophia de Mello Breyner Anderson and the residential district of Graça.
From this vantage point, we'll have the opportunity to climb to the highest point in the city, where the view is breathtaking. The Tagus River, the Mouraria district, the bridge, Christ the King statue, the city center, Lisbon's unique light – everything is within easy reach.
We will then descend to Alfama, passing by the Church of Saint Vincent and the National Pantheon, for a short walk, during which we can infiltrate the narrow streets, feel up close the energy of the neighborhood, the Fado, the contrast between nostalgia and the joy of living.
A visit to the city centre, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, is mandatory in order to give you a more complete history of Lisbon or simply to pass on all the anecdotes we can remember.
I'll pick you up wherever you are in Lisbon and drop you off wherever you want in the city. Plenty of good reasons to take a ride with me.
