Lisbon from the 15th to the 18th centuries (with Filipe)
The districts of Chiado, Bairro Alto, Principe Real, Estrela and Baixa
Around the 15th century, during the golden age of maritime trade, the city expanded along the Tagus River, especially towards its mouth.
As Lisbon transformed into one of the largest port centers, first in the Mediterranean and then globally, the city continued to grow in semicircles, always bordered by the Tagus.
During this development, the very fertile agricultural lands were reclaimed and transformed into urban districts now known as Chiado, Príncipe Real, Bairro Alto, and later, Estrela.
Initially conceived as working-class neighborhoods, they quickly became upscale, bourgeois-bohemian, cultural, and artistic districts.
From here, we will have a superb view of Castle Hill as well as the city center (Baixa), the funiculars, the bourgeois houses, the beautiful gardens, the churches, and the shops. Nightlife inevitably revolves around Bairro Alto, where parties start at 7:00 PM and end after 3:00 AM.
I'll pick you up wherever you are in Lisbon and drop you off anywhere in the city. Plenty of good reasons to take a ride with me.
